Restaurant Review

Merri and Yaz chillin' with Jake

Restaurant Review: Shabu Zen (2 Tyler St., Chinatown/Theatre District)
I went with Rob and Jake (of course), our nanny Laura, Merri, Jesse, Matt, and Yaz to Shabu Zen. A quick explanation for those of you that don't know what Shabu Shabu is.....It's basically really thin slices of meat/seafood/vegetables...(you get the idea) that you cook in in front of you on a skewer. You get to make your sauce (or at some you have sauces provided for you) and its just really fun and really yummy. The restaurant was really nice...contemporary Asian decor, and long tables...although I wish they'd had a round table option so that you could see and talk to everyone and not just your neighbors. I must say that I was not a big fan of the sake...BUTTTTT. I was a HUGE fan of the strawberry smoothies (fresh fruit...very, very yummy!!!). My favorite sauces that I suggest you cook the food in are the Kimche (I have NO idea if I spelled that even REMOTELY right...I probably killed it) and the soy sauce with seaweed. I got the really thin, see through noodles (which are really yummy....BUT they're kind of hard to find when you're cooking them.) I definitely suggest getting a side of rice to split per two people. Don't go if you're not STARVING...because it is A LOT OF FOOD! Ooooo and FYI, the steamed gyoza is yummy!!!

Yes, I had always wanted to try that and it was good! And you put a pic of me, what does that have to do with the restaurant? ;p
Well...it was just a preview of some of the people that were at the restaurant :)
