When Overly Attractive Men are with Barely Average Girls

Why does this happen? I was walking around Davis Square to the booze store (naturally), when I saw an overly attractive man with a girl...badly dressed, out of shape, shapeless stringy hair, "fresh" faced (in the worst way possible), and sour looking. And this got me to thinking. There are many more attractive women than there are men (I think women just genetically hit the jackpot)...so it is absolutely conceivable that an attractive woman would end up with your "Average Joe." But with so few amazing specimens of the male species (please see above...or below for an example of manly goodness):




Why do men like this always date women like this:

Yes...that is Alanis and NO your eyes do not deceive you. Although rumor has it that they are currently back off...it is just an example of this perplexing trend of extraordinary men dating below average women? Is it because they have a magnificent personality (based off of the frown the girl had, I would say no...how can you really be that dour all the time - I guess having women constantly wanting to bone your significant other could get old), or is it because these men know that they are so attractive that they really don't want or need to compete in the attractiveness category with their S.O.? Or do these women have lower self-esteem so they'll do just about anything you want them to? Or is it the Bill and Monica scenario...were they just convenient for very busy men. Hrmmmmmm.

As a side note, I do not approve of Ryan's recent hook up with the beyond HEINOUS horse-face Scarlett. I have, for his benefit, found him (with Rob's help...I give credit where credit is due) a much more suitable woman...she is quirky and musical like Alanis...but CUTE!:



I know...it's genious. If I could just photoshop a picture of them together and send it to their agents to demonstrate JUST how adorable they would be together!!!

Anyway, back to my point. Maybe it's just blind luck. Like Rob said "If Alanis can land Ryan Reynolds, then ANYTHING is possible!"
